After leaving college, Scott moved to Portland, Oregon where he graduated from culinary school and worked as a pastry chef for several years before moving to Guam to fulfill his dream of living on a tropical island. While there, Scott spent as much time int he water as possible, falling in love with the beauty and tranquility of scuba diving. Scott eventually found his way back to his home town of Olympia, Washington where he lived today with his dog Nikki. In 2005, Scott realized another of his lifelong dreams when he left his job to pursue his artwork fulltime.
Scott started working with glass in May of 2002 after reading several books and watching videos he got from his local library. He was instantly hooked, and just a few months later, Scott travelled to Eugene, Oregon to study privately with master bead artist Jim Smircich.
Scott's current work expresses his love for abstract art and organic forms. Many of his beads today mimic natural gemstones such as malachite, jaspers and opals. Others showcase layers of color and texture to create the chaotic simplicity he strives for in his designs.
Today, Scott can usually be found eithr working or teaching in his home studio in Olympia, Washington. Be sure to call on him if you're ever in the area, as Scott is always enthusiastic to show his work and demonstrate the art of lampworking.
